A report from Taiwan means that Apple's long-rumored iPad Pro which has a 12. 9 " display will certainly be powered by an A8X chip. It'll be slightly more powerful compared to the current A8 chipset residing inside the iPhone 6 duet and may also carry 2GB of RAM.
Apple did have a practice of outing an " X " version of their chipset in the A5 and A6, but skipped the X version while using A7. Based on the report, the A8 may have an A8X successor and it is going to be made by TSMC.
If Apple is indeed planning a 12. 9 " iPad Pro, an update in the graphics department inside the A8 chip is a necessary step to ensure those extra pixels will acquire the push they would like.
Traditionally, Apple announced updated iPad line-up after its big iPhone event and also the main star from the show is rumored as being iPad Air 2. A dummy from the slate popped up a while ago and showed a thinner body and slightly altered design from the speakers.
